i was thinking a south american or preferably (if they exist) a congo puffer
i want somthing that will school and swim in most of the tank during the daytime and wont fin nip a fish that is already shy and hides during the day (nameley the tatia perugiae)
and i was also wondering what size tank they need and how big they will get
and will adding a school of dwarf chain loach to the mix work out?
how many of each and how big a tank would i need for all that?
(i havent actually gotten started but im plotting, so im open to anything)

Too bad such a beautiful catfish has to be so shy... SAPs should work with well with it. They do prefer to live in a group of 3 or more: http://www.**************.com/forum/...-in-focus/sap/
Might as well read this one too: http://www.**************.com/forum/...tal/dentistry/

Congo puffers are a lurking species that spends most of its time buried in sand. Congos are extremely agressive and will kill fish even if they are larger than itself. A congo puffer will do best when kept solitary. You could keep a group of Colomesus asellus (South American Puffer or SAP).

Here is a link to a great care article about SAPs

I have kept T.perugiaes in a community before and I cant recommend it, I never saw them and they eventually died, from what I belive starving. So I can ony recommend a species tank for this catfish.
