Puffer fish was floating and almost died on me.. I fixed it

So I came home last night and I turned on the light to my 30 gallon tank in my room.. I have 1 figure 8 and spotted 8 puffer.. The spotted puffer was floating and what seem to be gasping for air a looked like he was about to die.. I havent really payed attention to my puffer fish since I got my new WC frontosas last month.. SO this is what I did..

I took out both puffer fish and put them into a 5 gallon tank... The water was taken from my frontosa tank, and I poured in some salt.. Left them in there for about 1 hour.. And while I was doing that I took out 30% water out the tank they were staying in..

I refilled it with the water from my frontosa tank and added more salt.. I threw them back in there.. and how there doing fine.. Not to metion I added prime in the tank as well..

Umm, nice save? Glad your puffers are better. Good job. Not too sure about your exact technique, though. You used the frontosa water because it is cleaner?

well both.. I useed the forntosa water because it was cleaner.. AND.. it was already warm, prerped, and at 8.0-8.3 ph which the puffers are used to..
