Was at the bigger local (45min away not so local) shop last week. They have a much bigger selection of stuff, and I had heard and had in mind about food soaks. I found this product...

and it was only 8 bucks so I grabbed it. I know its got phytoplankton in it which isnt part of a freshwater puffers diet period, but would this be a good food soak for my puffers? I wanna re-vitalize the frozen foods that are fed, as to give a healthier more vitamin packed meal. I know that a lot of fresh foods are great, but when you have to freeze large quantities frozen is more practical. Freezing stuff though gets rid of a lot of the vitamins. What do you all think?

Im not sure about the stuff you have but what I do to add some vitamins to my fishes diets is crush garlic put it in water and soak food in thatand then refrigerate it in between uses, its an alternative to a 45 minute drive

I have never found a need to soak or otherwise augment our Mbu's food. As long as your fish are consuming whole animals (the entire shellfish, rather than just the tails or whatever), I don't personally believe it's necessary.

Just my 2-cents.

I have clams on the half, and have shrimp but they have no head. Have been unable to find whole crays or whole shrimp anywhere yet. Stores around me are horrible for seafood.

I used to soak my puffers food in fish vitamins, but honestly didn't really see any noticeable difference in any of my fish so i stopped using it...

Crushed garlic can be useful to help get picky fish onto new foods, as well as a way to sort of help prevent parasites... but other than that... now a days i pretty much just believe the best thing for a puffer is a varied diet...

I soak in FW Vita-chem or Zoe vitamins. FW & SW require different nutrients.
