In A Van Down By The River
I’m currently working on a feeder tank for my puffers. I amgoing to start breeding snails. I basically know nothing about snails. Whattype of snails breed fast enough to keep up with the demand of my two GSP’s?What must I include in my tank such as drift wood or plants and what kind ofsubstrate? Can I use freshwater snails as a feeder for brackish fish?

i never bothered with snails when i had my gsp's , i used mussels ,clams and prawns all with the shell on and never had any problems with there teeth :)

I know snails take smaller space but why don't you try breedig marble crayfish they breed on their own and so much easier. Just a suggestion btw my FP loves mussels but he also loves crayfish. For sure get a drift wood or something for him so he can chill without being bothered.

We do have a puffer forum here. What kind of puffer do you have?

The small brown snails, the ones that are really a pest to pet store owners, evey chain pet store has them. They are the reason you see random gold fish in tropical fish tanks. Hundreds with in weeks. Try em out. The are free

Yes the small brown one's are a pest i had them a while back from a pet smart i got plants from them bad idea i had to many i had to take down the tank and let it dry out and get new gravel.

that would be the easy to get and easy to breed ...lol.... the crayfish are a good idea as well.

gold fish bowl, blanched spinach, 10 starting snails and ur set. ive also seen some one just get a gatorade bottle, drill small holes into it, and toss some adult pond snails (the pests) and once they have babies the babies just crawl through the holes and get munched on. all you gota do is make sure u leave a small part of the bottle exposed to air cuz snails have lungs
