Any suggestions on what puffer for a 100 gal tank?

Please bare in mind I have a a flowerhorn in there atm - so not too sure if the puffer and flowerhorn combination could work.. :WHOA: - Or maybe I should go for something else?

I can tell you right now that no puffer would work with your flowerhorn unfortunately... either the flowerhorn could kill the puffer or vice versa, or they could kill each other...

Ok, but what will work in a 100G... Or if I may hijack this thread, what would fit in a 90G standard tank. I would like to know this myself-fresh water preferred as well.

Normally the agreed bare minimum for a Fahaka is a 4X2X2 tank, although personally i'd shoot for around 180G

If you got an empty 90 and looking for a puffer there are quite a few choices out there...

If your looking for something active... you could try a trio of South American Puffers, as they prefer to be in groups of 3 or more...

If you don't mind lurkers, there are palembangs, suvatti's which can sometimes live in groups

Really depends on what your looking for and what if anything is in your tank currently...

I currently have the 90 empty but either going to swap my malawi set up over into the tank or sell the tank as is and try something different/unusual.

I was possibly thinking the usual discus route but a puffer/wet pet sounds the better and more interesting option.

I would want something bright and colourful / interesting.

^ If you want something bright, then avoid the lurkers, they tend to be a much more dull in color, such as browns and greys... plus they don't move much, if at all...

Maybe some of the smaller freshwater puffers would work, if you have an empty 90G i would maybe suggest a school of 3 South American Puffers... would be quite interesting, although be warned they may still require dentistry as their teeth grow exceptionally fast, even when eating snails with every meal...
