Well im kind of getting tired of the stuff I have and im looking for something different iv kept puffers before but they were brackish and I really enjoyed them and would like to get one or two for my tanks . Id like some info on some of the bigger fresh water puffs like sizes, temperament, prices, and growth also who and were can I get them from cause I doubt any of the lfs around here can get any.

There really are no larger FW puffers that can be housed with other fish, including conspecifics.

well, the two largest freshwater species Puffers are the MBU (which requires around 800+ Gallons) or the Fahaka, which needs to be housed in a 125G+ tank... obviously its best to keep each of these fish on their own as puffer punk mentioned, although some have had luck with keeping MBU's with other large fish IF they have an extremely large tank...

^ You could quite easily house a fahaka in a decorated 210 by itself, and save the 405 for other fish you want to keep? unless you would be interested in keeping a school of SAPS, (South American Puffer)... although dentistry would more than likely drive you absolutely nutts with so many fish...

Yea that’s more of what I want to do keep one huge one in the 210 I really like the way they look and the colors they have. Do you think one would do fine with some big bichirs?

99% of all fahakas are vicious killers. My friend had a 4" who bit an 8" pleco in 1/2, before it hit the bottom of the tank. Most folks are afraid to clean their tank!

Well I have plenty of other tanks I can move the bichirs to if I do have any problems or the Fahaka will just have some nice snacks.

How much do they run for and are they fairly easy to get, also what’s there growth rate are they fast growers?

Around 1"/month, especially is placed in your large tank.
