I finally got my puffer out of freshwater and into a 10 gal brackish tank, salinity is 1.005 i took the water to my LFS at they said its perfect. He seems super happy now.

But im having 1 concern. Theres a is small foam gathering on the surface. Should i be worried?

My GSP was unhappy in fresh so I moved him into a full marine set up and he instantly changed BRIGHT yellow. He's been happier healthier and much more active and friendly ever since. I believe that puffers need at least some salt to replicate natural conditions.

im gonna go and say the foam on top is most likely protein build up. i dont really see putting a protein skimmer on a 10gallon...... so maybe just regular water changes? maybe some1 with more salt experience will chime in.

Great looking little F8 you got there, good to see it in brackish conditions as well... only thing you may need to consider later down the line is a slightly larger tank when its more mature... around an extra 10G should make him very happy...

Thanks guys. He was sold to me as freshwater. But he has to much personality to part with. It was worth every penny for this brackish setup just to see him act normal and brighten up. All my tanks get 50% changes once a week so i will observe after my next water change.

Im going today to buy a colony of snails so i have perma food for mr puffer to wear his teeth down on.

If i do get a bigger tank, can he have any tank mates? I will get larger then nessesary if he can.

im curious on the tank mate thing as well.... one of my LFS told me if i were to get puffers, to keep them alone as they dont do well with other fish... but ive always been skeptical on that
