Puffers and Cichlids ?!?!?!?!?!?

hi...

i went to a LFS today and saw that they had 3 big red eyed puffers in a malawi setup, ( ) they seemed ok, can these go with any other cichlids? like Americans?

yah, they typically can, just make sure the americans they go in with aren't psychos or are going to become psychos(rts dovii umbees etc.)

yeah just watch for the psycho, my friend tried to put one with his red devil. needless to say that was an expensive piece of food.

some Pikes are found with puffers not too far away.

I kept a Puffer with my Africans once didnt work out well.... the puffer destroyed their fins and started nipping at them so I took him out, I dunno if a red eye puffer is the same as anyother puffer as far as how it acts but if it is then I wouldnt put it with anything but its self. Puffers are mean little suckers... thats just my opinion...

there are alot of nasty puffers out there, i had a jag once that was about 7" and he grabbed and stuck the puffer in his mouth but quickly spit him out, when he came out he did like two flips(in the water) it was kinda funny
