so a little over a week ago i upgraded or redecorated almost all my puffer tanks. Also coincidentally the temp in my fish room dropped without me realizing it. The tanks went down to 70 briefly (think briefly) but since been corrected and all tanks are 75-78.
My baby congo, group of baby avocados, one of the abeis and my fahaka are all eating well. My turgidus, other abei, barbatus and duboisi are all off food. They are acting normal but showing no interest in their shrimp and chooped seafood which they normally love. I have always considered puffers dramatic but this is going on a bit long. Any thoughts to get them going again?

So a couple of your puffers have gone on hunger strike since the temp change??? If so, how long have they been acting funny???

Coz my hairy puffer from being super active when i first got him, has now become rather lazy since hes been getting regular feeds...

Infact, hes now become so lazy that from feeding him almost daily a month or two ago, to now where i see him maybe every 4-6 days when hes hungry...

So if their level of in-activity isn’t due to them being too well fed, it could be just them not being too happy to the sudden temp change and are taking time to readjust after the slight shock???

Thank you for the reply. Everyone is back to eating and duboisi Is getting aggresive again.

Unrelated has anyone housed any of the targets as a community. Love to try the two abei, barbatus, and turgidus in a 125g

I don't know anyone that's had the testicular fortitude to try it. My gut tells me its a bad idea from owning an abei but I really can't say.

You'll either be a trail blazer or have some half dead rare puffers. That barbatus is way too rare to gamble with...but that's just me.

Did you try your abei with others?

I did not. Pure speculation. I had the tank close to my old suvatti. The suvatti would puff like a threat, but the abei would rush over in kill mode.

The only puffers I've ever kept together are GSP's and F8's with their own kind.

I curious how theyll behave myself. Maybe throw up some dividers and toss them in. You'll be the first that I know of to try it. My worry would be that they don't do a territorial display and just start inflicting serious damage.

Right now the two abeis are in a divided 125 with a clear divider and ignore each other. Before that my small abei and barbatus shared a split tank and ignored each other. I can say the same for when the dubois shared a divided tabk with a fahaka, barbatus and abei. As you know all bets are off once the divider comes down
Right now i have my fahaka with one other fish in an 180 bit i only tried it because he is a skiddish fish

Now that's interesting. I'm curious how this will turn out. Keep us updated.
