Puffers

Okay, before anybody says move this to the brackish forums, this is exactly what I am asking.

I am looking to start up a tank with puffers, however, everywhere you read tells you something different. Some sites say freshwater, others say brackish. Some say all puffers, no matter what species/etc, are freshwater, others say some are brackish and some are freshwater.

Does anybody know of a good website that explains the truth about these guys? Does anybody know from experience?

Try the oddball section dude theres tons of info on freshwater/brackish and saltwater!! What kind of puffer you looking at?

If you're looking to start a community of puffers, there are a few species that do well together. Small tanks could house a community of dwarf puffers (Carinotetraodon travancoricus). A mid-size tank could house a community of peruvian puffers (Colomesus asellus). And, a large tank could house a community of dragon/humpback/palembang puffers (Tetraodon palembangensis). These are all freshwater species. However, each can benefit from a teaspoon of salt per gallon of water which is nowhere near being brackish.

I want to start a smaller tank with Dwarfs.

There is a nice article about Puffers in the latest Tropical Fish Hobby mag. More info online for sure, but a nice intro/summary.
