This is my tank, this is puffy, hes an oscar, I also got a red devil, 2 cons, and some goldfish, I found a lampshade and put it up against the glass, but theres a small opening in the back, I thought it was a good idae so I oculd see who would claim it, I think the cons are gonna lay theyre eggs in there. Its a 20 gallon with an aquaclear 70. What you guys think? I know they will outgrow it, I have planned for that.

I think that gold fish and your cichlids is just a bad Idea the goldfish are going to end up eaten or torn up they can live in warm water but it greatly shortens their life span. also gold fish just produce alot of waist

so im thinking loose the goldfish and you would be better off.

I feel like puffy is a very pretty oscar I also feel like you are going to need a BIG TANK to house them all. also some amazing filtration oscars gold fish very messy fish.

I feel like puffy is a very pretty oscar I also feel like you are going to need a BIG TANK. cant wait to see it.:popcorn:

exactly how big are you planning? I recommend you plan fast your oscars grow at a rate of about an inch a month until 8 inches after that they continue growing at a slower rate

Nice fish, bad combo...goldfish are gonna die and your oscar and red devil are going to outgrow the tank VERY fast. The 20 gallon would be big enough for the convicts and their future offspring but not the oscar or red devil. In fact, you should probably separate the two already, you'll need at least a 55 to 75 gallon for ONE full grown oscar and the same with t he red devil. I saw my red devil devastate a large oscar in a matter of minutes when a dumb co-employee threw it in the same tank. GL :headbang2

Cute fish. That cave you have in there, if I'm not mistaken, is a part from a recessed light and it is metal either steel or aluminum if so not a good idea to have in a fish tank.

i was thinking the same thing... lol

Breeding Cons in a 20 with other tankmates is not a good idea. They are very protective parents and will attack any fish that comes near their fry. Like everyone else said, you will need a much larger tank to house your fish together. Even if you do get a big tank the Red Devil will probably grow to dominate your tank. The Oscar and Goldfish will probably be the first victims of the adult Red Devil. Keep up with the water changes on your tank. The water looks murky. You picked out some nice fish to keep (minus the goldfish). You just have to provide them with the proper tanks.

I would ex the lampshade and get some cheap tarocata (SP?) clay pots. The little redish orange ones. Those work a lot better and are good for breeding and laying eggs on. And they are ubber cheap. Like under a dollar each for 4" pots at walmart. Otherwise nice fish!
