Pumbing Drilled Tank

I have a 40gal acrylic drilled tank. hole is at right side top. I placed a diy 1.25" bulkhead which fits perfectly for 1.25" plumbing. After plumbing to sump, it didn't flow right. Started to fill up tank then suddenly it would drain through pipe with a loud slurping noise. And then the process would start all over again. How can i correct this problem. What am i missing here?
Need some feedback and help! (ASAP)

i already have 2 chompers 101 overflows 1.25". Usually theres a portion of overflow that goes into the tank to create the overflow right? Now, being having a drilled hole in tank, how would i make this work? HELP!!!

I'm not sure what your system looks like, but have you tried to throttle back the output from the pump (i.e. reduce the flow rate into your tank)?
