im upgrading my 75 to a 150 so i need some more filtration. i got a xp3 so im going to use that and i wanna make a sump. but i dont know what pump to use.do you guys think a quiet one 2200 would be good? it has 581 gph thats about 350ghp at 5' which about where the top of the tank it going to be. or should i go with something bigger?

Thanks

That will just give you a 2x turnover with a clean filter. I would shoot for at least a 3x or 4x turnover so as the filter gets dirty you won't loose as much filtration.

anyone? i would like to order this pump asap but i dont wanna get the wrong one and have to return it.

It will work ok, but no margin if your sump is large with a lot of bio-media to push thru.

The 4000 is only $15 more :D.

You can alway relieve pressure, but you can't up it.

It's a sump, an open, non pressurised system.
He wont be "push"ing the water through the bio-media with his pump.

The ability of the pump to deliver water to the level of the tank is the only thing that he needs to consider when selecting his pump.

Edited to add: Here's some pump head data for some of the Quiet One range,
