Pump for Wet/Dry

Hey everyone,

I'm redoing my Wet/Dry sump for my 150 gallon. I was wondering, if I were to buy this, http://www.fishtanksdirect.com/overflowbox200gallondualbyeshopps.aspx , how big of a pump would I need to get? I hope someone can help me. Thanks!

What I meant was, if I have a 800 gallon pump... would that be okay? Or should I get something bigger? THanks!

I'm using the same Overflow on my 150 gallon with a Quiet One 5000 pump. It gives me 900 gallons turnaround per hour at 4.5 feet height. Water is nice and clear.

Also, Quiet One 5000 is rated at 1330 gallons per hour. You have to consider loss of pressure due to height, filter media, plumbing etc. That was why I went higher in order to obtain the maximum flow I needed.

go with a little more than you need and control the flow with a ball valve

it should work. your 800gph pump will lose head and be around 720gph wich will be easy for the 900gph overflow to keep up with!
