Getting to the final steps of my 180g set up but I have a couple questions. Setup is 180g corner drilled ( both corners) 1 drain ¾ return . 55g no baffle sump with filter socks and 40# of ceramic rings. I will be housing Peacocks and Haps.
First questions is what pump? I was originally planning on getting a Mag 12 to keep the current down for the fish. I was recently told that it would be wiser to go with a Mag 18 for the difference in price. Not sure how the current will change. Need to know which way to go.
Second question is heater and thermometer. This is my first big tank that I am actually trying to do right. I have no experience with heaters other than the cheap glass ones. I do not want to have any hardware visible inside the main tank so I was planning to run my heater in the Sump. What wattage will I need considering that I will have a submerged pump generating heat as well?
How do I measure the temperature of the tank and where is the best place to get an accurate reading for the tank?
