Hey everyone. I bought a pump (Elite 801) for my 30 gallon about 6 months ago. I havent used it in 6 months.

The other day i tried attatching a 2$ airstone to it using standard tubing.
It didnt work. The pump vibrated, but no air or bubbles. So I went to the pet store and bought new tubing. Attached it and tried again. Still nothing, just vibration.

Has this happened to anyone? If so, did you eventually get it to work?? What do I do!?!? Do I need a new pump??

Does it have a shutoff valve? Does the pump blow out air if you remove the tube?

If it has a shutoff valve, I dont see it.
I can't feel the air if i take off the tube...

As a metter of fact I CAN feel a tiny bit of air if I remove the tube. But not much..

you may have a broken diaphram

Unplug the unit, open the housing and look at the rubber diaphram, is it secure? does id have a hole?

replacement diaphrams are available at most local pet stores

The other issue you may have is that the airstone produces very fine bubbles and requires more pressure than the pump can deliver.

does it produce bubbles without the airstone? how deep?

Fishman I think you're right. I think the diaphram is broken. ugh. Thanks alot for everyones help.

Glad you got it sorted
