hi everyone, new to this site, hope someone can help me. I am in the process of setting up a 300 gallon rubbermaid as a shark / ray tank, what would be a good pump for this, and how should I plumb this. I was thinking of making my returns 90 where they enter the vat, and in same direction, as to not only intrude into the tank area, but offer good even flow, much like a whirlpool. Any advice would be appreciated, thanks, Marc.

OK well i am not sure what the 300 gallon rubbermaid looks like ..dont get them in my country.

but we use water storage tanks ...the bases.
i have setup a couple of these for my friends the biggest being 900 gallons.
the tanks are circular so i plumb my return to enter at the side closer to wall of the tank. this sets up a whirlpool effect and i use a submersible pump in the center of the tank. the pumps i like to use are the Mags (Danner). the size of the pump entirely depends on how much turn overs you want in the tank...i.e. how many times you want the full volume of the tank to be cycled every hour.
the pump feeds out to an external filter kinda like a canester filter but i made it out of a large blue barrel the one with the 2 screw covers on the top.

hope this helps i am sorry i dont have pics of this setup but i am new here as well
