I am looking for recommendations for the best pump under $200 that is capable of throwing approx. 2000 gph. I see that the Danner Pro HY-Drive 2100 GPH Water Pump fits my requirements...does anyone have any feedback about them? I am using the pump for a homemade wet/dry on a 225-250 gallon indoor pond. One more thing...I prefer to use a external pump....not submersible. Thanks!!!

Thanks Dave....they are pretty reasonably priced. Actually the submersible pumps they sell seem like they might work. I originally didn't want a submersible, but it may be the best option.

I have a laguna 2000 in my sump and love it. Plenty of power, and it uses less electricity than comparable pumps. Amazon.com currently has 2 different "Laguna 2000" pumps for sale: one for $169, and one for $132.... not sure what the difference is though.

Submersible is good unless you're trying to keep cold water fish, the heat from the pump is transferred to the water rather than the atmosphere, so it isn't lost energy. Not sure how much of a difference it makes, but any free energy is good energy right...

It is for an indoor snapping turtle pond. I like to keep the water around 68 degrees or so...and the room the pond is going in is a basement that averages around 65 degrees. So a submersible pump would probably only heat the 250 gallons up a few degrees....right?

definitely wouldn't heat your water in any significant way, especially if you go with a pump that uses less electricity. Less electricity mean less energy, which should mean less heat (through some equation I do not know, but would make me look much more intelligent than I do now).
