I have a rack of tanks that I have a custom sump and several canisters and HOB's. The tanks in question are my 2 45 gallon show tanks on the top rack.
I have them set up with an AC110 a piece, but they are a pain to service due to the height of everything. They work well with an oscar a piece with a couple small dithers, but I want to conect them up to the sump system. I already have the DIY overflows cut and glued- one in place the other not yet. I have a 900gph pump currently on my 125 to sump (premade 1 1/4 overflow) that is about right for the output of the pump at ~4' of head. These 2 top tanks I'm looking at ~7-8' of head...
What I want to run is a single pump with a 'T' to split output between the two 45's. custom spraybar etc...But what will the 3/4 " overflow piping handle and what size should I be aiming for for the pump with that kind of height to deal with? Also what dia. of piping/tubing should I use to get the water that high without alot of pump fatigue? 1/2"? 3/8?
Thanks!
