Ive got about a 200 gallon preformed pond that I put in a couple years ago. However it hasn't gone great as a very still lilly pond kind of thing as it just get so muddy and cloudy and is alot of work so this year im trying something new. I want to do a pond that kind oflooks like a pool or eddy in a fast river where its not overly flowing but you cantell there is some water movement. However I dont know what size pump I should use to get this effect. The pond is about 3 feet deep and i guess what im trying to ask is how many gph or head am i going to need for a distubance at the top?

Tough question, I know for a waterfall spill evenly across a flat rock you want min. 100gph per inch or 1000gph per foot of width which should be around 1/4 of water, I think. As for a stream with rocks, you'll probably need to seal the rocks down so water flows over and not under, or use a monster size pump.

What type of filter does this current set up have? Will the new pump run the filter as well as aid in circulation or will this new pump be soley for circulation and the effect you are trying to obtain?
