Is that $60 for the temp controller and the 500 watt heater or are they separate?

How big of a tank were you heating with the 500 watt heater? I'm looking to heat a 280 that's my basement to about 82 degrees (the basement air temp is usually about 65 degrees).

were 180 gallons in a slightly cooler room.

I think that 3-4 watts per gallon works on smaller tanks and the requirement goes down as the tank gets bigger.

One of the heaters is brand new and has never seen water. $75 for that one.
