Well after looking into a pump for my pond, I was a little shocked:WHOA: by the pricing for some of these pumps , and confused on which one to use. Has anyone ever used a sump or utility pump for a pond? Just woundering were I can get a pump for my 8'x'8'x4' deep pond, with a waterfall 3'-4' tall.

sump pumps are VERY expensive on electricity plus most will leak oil into the water. Look for the magnetic driven pumps that are designed for ponds. If you go for a pool pump or a sump pump you'll end up paying double the amount for both the pump + electrical cost in the first year than a more expensive pond pump. Now your pond isn't that big so you should be able to pick up a pump for say 100-200$ I love my anjon monsoon pump and the 4000gph one should go for about 130-150$ on ebay through anjon monsoon's own ebay store. This mean you'll get the full 2 year warranty despite buying it from ebay. (as some manufacturers don't honor ebay sales for warranty)

others that act similarly are the laguna 2900 pond pump and the pondmaster hybrid drive 2550. both should be found for sub 200$ on ebay or other retailers might come into those ranges. the trouble is that a lot of the time on ebay you can find a manufacturer direct style store vs a regular retail/e-tail markup.
