My bleekeri got startled last night and some how hit the corner of a rock giving him a serious puncture wound on his side. The rock wasn't positioned dangerously, this is a freak Accident. I'm looking for some advice on thing I can do to help this wound heal faster and avoid infection. I hope this is the right sub for this topic. Thx!

Great thanks. I raised the temp a little bit to 82 (from 78-79). Dosage for salt will probably be on the box, right?

I personally would maintain the water at its highest quality and add aquarium salt.

+1
That's a pretty significant wound. At this point, I would just do a 50% w/c every other day for at least a week. If it starts looking worse then you may have to resort to antibiotics. My experience is that fish are a lot more resilient than us in regards to fighting off infection

I don't see a reason to raise the temp, that's typically for treating ich.....and that's just to speed up the life cycle not to kill the organism. Raising the temp may cause your fish more stress and many microbes tends to thrive more in higher temp

Good call. I'll bring the temp back to normal and add salt along with water changes. Thoughts on cutting down salt dosage due to frequency of water changes?

I personally don't use salt, so I can't really make a solid recommendation on dosing.
