I have found someone local that has six of these for sale and was wondering if they would be fine in a 40g breeder tank? It's 2m and 4f if that helps any and they are all about 2" also. Thanks.

your males with that limited space will fight as soon a a female becomes ripe. nyereri when housed closly also have a tendancy to beat up females. i would rotate the males and keep the extra in a community tank you may have or a 10 gallon. and switch them out every month or so. adding some dithers may help keep down male female aggression. this is my expierance with the 7 species of nyereri i have kept.

my pundas killed each other off with one dominant male left and thats it peroid ive had many of them and bred them but ive always had to remove the males and seperate them they hate other fish that are red and i had them in a 55 gal to them selves they also killed all the females eventually its not a good idea to keep more than one male in a tank they will kill anything thats red i had an extremely rare xystichromis that was 2 years old and i bought a 2in punda the one in my pics and he killed the xysti that was about twice his size at the time the pundamilia was the less dominant fish but after about a year the punda was almost 5inches and extremely aggressive so i suggest firstly if the stock is not reputable dont breed them and get rid of the females and only keep males they will be less aggressive without the females but they are the jerkyist fish of all time they are not made to fight with each other like mbunas and the healthyist fish will be the only male in the tank
