Pups born in all female tank.

Interesting... I heard female rays time their ability to get pregnant with their surroundings (adequate food supply / water copnditions) and can even absorb the pups if the environmental conditions become unfavourable. Maybe this is another means of meeting the right environmental conditions to produce offspring???

It's spermatophore storage. Sharks/rays can hold onto sperm for several years until the environment is correct for having pups.
It's not a new thing. I bet if they go back an look at husbandry records or notes (assuming they keep good ones), they'll have record of breeding behavior prior to the male being removed from the females.

I had no idea that this was possible with rays, although they are live bearers i thought it was just guppies, platties and mollies ect that stored the male sperm.
Thanks for shedding some light on the subject mr zoodiver, i knew you would have a reasonable explanation for this to happen.
