This is the best forum for anyone trying to purchase cichlids or any other aquarium fish, its like a 24/7 auction on the buy/sell forum. The members are specialized, experienced, dedicated and have spent small fortunes on their hobby. I'm a relatively new member but have sold fish to and purchased from several other members and have been impressed to see their fishrooms and setups. I have a lot of cofidence when I make purchases on this forum, after all if I can buy fry or extras which were purchased from the best ratailers around, especially when so many members are local, why not check here before ordering? I purchased rotkiel fry from Rapps awhile back and ended up with 4 spawning pairs over time I sold 3 pairs and a bunch of fry (I got fry from 3 of the 4 pairs). All who purchased from me got great fish and much better prices than ordering from the retailers. I've also purchased tank raised fish from members which have proven to be excellent quality. Don't get me wrong if I see something special on a retailer's list I will be the first to order. Recently I sold some fish to a lfs at $7 each and several customers were watching as they were being placed in the tank, before I left the store a customer purchased 4 at $25 each. Bottom line you get variety, great prices and fish which come from well kept tanks when you use this forum, the condition of the tanks in some lfs leave a lot to be desired.

wait you sold them for seven dollars each and then someone bought 4 for $25 so the store lost money?
The store paid $27 and sold them for $100 and I don't buy fish there because of the filthy tanks. A few years ago I traded a marble catfish which had out grown my setup to the same store and when I saw the tank they put him in it sickened me, it had big pacus a red tail and other large fish and 1 AC 110 which was clogged filtering the tank. When I saw him a few weeks later his long wiskers were rotted and hr had sores I'm sure he died. The members here take pride in their hobby and thus povide better conditions than most lfs.
