The pond stocking truck will be in our community this weekend. He is selling many different types of native fish. I am going to pick up a few LMB to stock my tank. I have no idea what kind of survival rate I will have or how many I should purchase. If I get ten and ten survive...what will I do with ten LMBs?

Anyone picked up fish off of the fish truck?

Are you talking tank-like farm tank, or aquarium? You're asking for a brawl if you put 10 LMBs in an aquarium together.

That's cool that you have a fish truck that drives around... Does he play music like the ice cream man?

I only want one or two LMB to go into my 125 gallon. The fish from the stock truck will between 2-3". In our part of the country the stock truck has a regular route in the fall of the year...you show up with your buckets and purchase what you want.

Is this going to be permanent housing? That's not really big enough for one full size LMB, but especially not 2 or more. Unless you have somewhere to move them assuming all survive then I'd just try one and hope it does ok.

That's sweet you should not have to expect a die off rate really because LMB are hardy fish.

It is perfect for starting out you will have to upgrade later down the line but there only 3 inches long right now hes fine.

Get two and if one dies you will have one left. (I doubt one will die if you take proper care of it) You will need a bigger tank down the road but that will be good for now.

I'm gong to isolate the guys for a couple of weeks before moving them to the bigger tank. My other worry is that I have a 90 minute drive after I pick them up. The truck was in my home town on Monday but I was in court dealing with an abduction case out of Fresno and I missed them.

I have traveled that distance with no problem before but the fish were bagged with oxygen.

Get an airstone and an adapter that hooks into your cigarette lighter.

If you put them in a bucket and aerate they should be fine. I've moved fish numerous times this way, up to several hours and no issues. Just make sure to either get a screw on lid and drill a hole for the air tubing or secure the bucket well.
