x2 That was my thought. Some similar juvenile markings but I would think it is something completely different from a JD first, not a hybrid.

it has a long body unlike a texas i have both kinds of texas doesnt look a thing like them body shape and speckling is different. when i saw this thing i though it was a mota. its clearly not after bringing it home. it has a strong vertical bar much like salvinis and motas.
Hmm apparently the ones I have are not what I think they are then...other than the lips it looks like some juvs. I have. If you would not mind whenever you find out what it is PM me.
when we got the fish, my first eyeball guess was dempsey hybrid, perhaps mixed with salvini or parachromis...didn't have the shape to be one of the texas types to me. stuck at just generic CA hybrid for now
