how sensitive are they? i have a tank at 77f and i wanted to put a 11" pure strain that i got in it but the water that it was in was ice cold and i let it warm up for an hour after i got it in the house...it was in my truck for about 45 min warming when i was driving home... when i touched the water with my hand it didn't fell that cold after all that time, but when i put the fish into the tank after floating for 30min, it went into shock and died...how long do they have to warm up from that cold? is 77f to hot for them? i didn't think it was cause are lakes up here get that hot in the summer...thanx....i took some pics of it before/during warming and after it was dead i have always wanted a muskie and i still do...what should i do diff. for next time?

This conversation has come up before. When acclimating fish from very cold waters, I usually keep them in the water I collected them from for 24 hours.

Put them in a bucket with the same water they came out of and run an air pump with an airstone for 24 hours, this will slowly bring the water to room temperature. There should be NO heater in your muskie tank and be sure the tank is well aerated. Coolwater fish require higher 02 levels. Good luck next time.
