so im thinking bout getting a TLF phosban reactor 550 and filling it with purigen to crystalize the water .... does anyone use it is it really a major change is it worth it to use it or no ? and does it actually work to help reduce the ammonia/nitrate/nitrite in the tank like it claims, as well as make the water crystal clear ?

Personally Purigen is okay but I prefer polyfilter Tm w carbon , I have excellent water parameters w that combo for marine, fresh and reef tanks fo 20 yrs. I like seachem products but the purigen is a pain to contain and not worth my time in regenerating, polyfilter NOT FIBER removes anything and changes color to let you know what is it is adsorbing copper, metals Po4, organics. Very easy to use and fits anywhere in your filter scheme , Good luck!

Yes it does help reduce ammonia/nitrate/nitrite like it claims as it works like all other biological media. It's "claim to fame" is the amount of surface area it offers for the biological filtration as well as it absorption capabilities. Which basically means it's pulling double duty as both a biological media as well as mechanical filtration. I've personally used it and it works great, only problem I have is it gets exhausted faster than any other media I've used. As such it needs to be cleaned/regenerated often and as said above is hard to contain due to it's small size. At least that's what I've understood about the product and my own personal experience. Others might feel differently.

ya and that might be a real big PITA to clean/contain if I have a media reactor full of it lol... like my tank is clear all though the nitrates maybe a little high right outta the tap here where i live now, and well who doesn't like there tank to be crystal clear :D
