ok so after hearing so many good things about Purigen I though I would give it a go I got anuf to treat about 500g for a 135g I placed it in a ac110 on top with only a sponge as the other media in the ac110 it's been about a week or so my nitrate level was 10 and now it's 15 so the only change was a bad one and this stuff is already turning brown ish in collor

is it because it is sitting right on the sponge :help2:

Keep testing....

and don't forget to shake the bottles before you test

yah thanks I do every week

No, I'm serious. If your Purigen is brown already, then your water contains dissolved organics, so more water changes would help.

purigen takes a while to affect the nitrates. If it is turning brown already that means it is working. My 55 with my L200 breeding project had 1.5 Liters of purigen and it was completely exhausted in 2 days.

Wow, that was fast.

With the bio load I had in there, I'm suprised it lasted that long. The tank had been running for a week with the full stock. 5 large L200s, 2 medium L200s, 2 medium L128 a bunch of con fry, and 8 sailfins will do that though.
