Firstly cant say enough good things about this stuff it cleared my tank in 2 days from a tannin soup to crystal clear and kept it clear for about 2 months.
I have removed it from the filter now and i am bleaching it with a 10% mix of unscented bleach.
Should i soak it in water for a day after it is back to normal?

Have never used Purigen, but do bleach my micron filter cartridges.
I let them "air" out for 3 days after the bleach bath.
Been doing this for quite awhile, with no problems.
If you want, after the bleaching, you could give it a soak in some dechlorinator treated water.
Would let you put it back in service faster.

I THINK Seachem says to soak it overnight in bleach, rinse, soak in water with prime, and you're good to go. I would give it a few extra rinses and make sure there is no bleach smell. Drying it out is a good idea too.
This stuff is awesome, I've been a bit quiet about it because most people on MFK hate chemical media and I don't feel like arguing, but I've tested out a couple tanks just for fun after I ordered a whole bunch of it and JESUS it keeps your water clear. I'm really not a "crispy" water guy either but all my tanks are already pretty overfiltered (XP3 on a 33g, FX5 on a 90g) and this stuff just pushes the clarity over the edge.

If memory serves me correctly you're supposed to use 50% bleach for 24hours, then rinse and soak in water with prime for 24 hours, then water with a ph buffer. The directions are on seachems website

this is what it says on foster and smith about purigen

Regeneration
Soak Purigen in a 1:1 bleach to water solution for 24 hours in a non-metalic container in a well-ventilated area and away from children. Rinse well, and then soak for 8 hours with a solution containing 2 tablespoons of dechlorinator per cup of water. Rinse well. For freshwater use, soak for 4 hours with a solution containing 1 tablespoon of buffer per cup of water. Original color and full activity should now be restored and Purigen is ready for reuse.

A neutral buffer for ph
