I use it on all 3 of my tanks and I love it. Nice carbon replacement, plus it really polishes the water. 
I just recently added a large media bag of it to my canister filter on my 135gal as I wanted to remove the tannins in the water. Within 24hrs the water was back to looking like the day I filled the tank. It definitely does a good job at polishing the water, the only problem is... I think I actually liked the water better WITH the tannins now that I see it without them!
It works great as a polisher, just dont put too much in a bag so the water can pass through easily, due to its small size it seems to pack. I learned this from my first time using it. I hope this helps.

yeah i agree it packs. I had to mix mine up a lil as just the outside turned color. The inside was mostly white. I also enjoy the product. It wont make miracles but i like my water better with it than without it

Hahaha, i had that problem once... now that i've just added some new driftwood to my tank, i've not added any new purigen in... just going to leave it as a semi-blackwater tank since its not too dark atm...
^^Hah, yeah I may be removing some of it as I am definitely missing the darker look the tannins gave my tank.

In my tank i noticed about every 2-3 months max roughly... Any longer and its normally dead...
