My LFS is not a big fan of Purigen for some reason. I've got a heavily populated tank and driftwood that turned my water to a tea color for years. I've added Purigen to both of my canisters and added a UV sterilizer - brown algae was driving me nuts - and now my water is so clear I could be tempted to drink it. My fish are all very healthy - ir has been more than a year since I lost one and that was due to an ammonia spike after a massive wc and media change - live and learn. Is there a downside to Purigen that I am missing?
