pics?

It's probably dyed. Either that or illegal, which is far less likely if they're a publicly open storefront.

Well send pics when I get there, they just said it over the phone. But I don't think they dye their fish, so maybe the supplier did? Any hints to tell if its dyed

If it's actually purple in color and being sold at that price it is dyed. They certainly wouldn't do it at the store, but unfortunately a lot of distributors do. I try to avoid fish stores that purchase such animals.

Once a fish has been dyed, its lost all its natural value in my opinion.

I feel terrible for the fish, too. Definitely a traumatic experience that messes with their physical health, and just turns out ugly when they grow and it fades/deforms.

It's like tattooing a toddler.

I never understood the point of tattooing or dying fish.
