Purple garnet sand

So my so called red garnet came .... Needless to say it's not red..... At all.... It's very very purple ..... I don't mid the color I actually like it but how is gonna do my bichirs ?? Anyone had any experience useing purple garnet with there bichirs?image.jpg

The 30grit seems to be fine (granularity) based on the samples ive got. I think I ended with 20-40grits slightly bigger bits. not sure how the numbers ties up with the size. worst that you're not satisfied, you can just add the garnet you like with what you have now instead of taking all out to replace - its gonna be a big job to do the change over.
 
your bichirs will slowly loose all their patterns.. trust me, i got the same type of garnet off of ebay. my black volta turned grey after 2 weeks...

lol. No i'm telling the truth bro. I mixed some red sand and black into it, still, gave me the same result! but it's up to you tho. i like the look of it, but for other fish like rays and stuff. but not for bichirs..

Were you able to get any before and after pics? Very curious to see the change.

I bought some ot the 'red' garnet and when I added to the tank and saw the purple color I was glad I only bought a small sample. Almost looks f
