Purple up Live Rock.

Well your best bet would be to find someone who has purple rocks, and when they clean their glass ask them to collect a handful of the purple coraline flakes and then sprinkle them around your tank in good lighting and it should boost purple coraline growth. I haven't personaly done this but from my readings it is the most effective method. The time would very on how many flakes you add, your parms, the amount of rock, and your tanks general condition.

you can seed dif. coraline algaes for sure... i bought some live rock from a guy parting out his set up and didnt see much but a little purple on it, put it in my tank and 3-4 days later had a massive neon green algae growth on half the rocks. turned out to be a nice addition to a pred tank that im not too worried about anything but the fish. call it a happy accident.

Seeding the tank with coraline from different sources creates a variety. There are also different methods of seeding: flakes as mentions, rocks, plastic coated with coraline. Essentially any way of getting the coraline on your rock will do. Then, good lighting and boosting your elements will speed up the growth. Treat the algae like really hardy corals and give it some time.

well coraline algae is best grown with a good seeded rock or you can use a good calcium source and lighting let what is on your rocks grow a bit and scrape a bit off with a razor I usually scrape enough off to be almost like a pinch between your thumb and index finger I then release this into the highest flow of my system and the spores that I released from scraping the coraline and releasing it will help seed more to the tank. The key is place the coraline near your highest flow output so it can be spread throughout the tank.

Do you think seeding it this way could possibly promote glass coraline growth?
