The size difference is almost scary.....Definatley place a clear divider between them for the first two weeks.......

let them have at it fry are in your future

When the big male first met the little female he decided not to tear her up... so I wouldn't worry about dividing or seperating them...

I've made large male / small female Dempsey pairs a few times with success. If the female goofs up with eggs/fry the male may get overly aggressive, but with such a size difference it should be easy to give the female caves the male cannot fit in (which is important).

can you post picture and point out the differences in sexes please. I think i have a female and want to buy a male, and i know a tank fulll of nice looking perfect sized males (so they say) but i want to be sure

Female JDs have a lot of blue all across their gill plates and usually half way down their body......Male JDs have blue all over their whole bodies with little or none on their gill plates.......I have pics of my young mated pair in my photo album take a look....

its sound like they will be ok and they are well on there way ;) . normally aggression is noticed quickly. i would watch carefully though.
