if you know what your doing, i say go for it. if you think you know what your doing, i say dont even try it.

either way make sure you have a few hospital tanks waiting.

From what i've read around the forum ...maybe 3 with lots of cover(plants,rocks)...that being said, if it worked out as they got bigger you would need to tripple the size of your tank...but I'm no expert, just my humble opinion...keep us updated !

Compatible Species:
The Spilopleura Piranha is one of the few Serrasalmus-species that has been succesfully kept in a group, despite the fact that is is not very tolerant towards tank mates, and in particular its own kind. However, due to it's parasitic lifestyle (scale-eater, fin-nipper) and agressive character, these are rare occurences, and attempts are usually shortlived. All in all, it is best to keep this species as a solitary fish: attempting to shoal this species is only recommended to very experienced piranha keepers

all in all i would say dont go for it ..not that experienced then dont even try just gonna coast ya...try the ternetzi piranha they are aslo yellow and gold in color and they belong to the pygo group and therefore easier to group up

correct me if i'm wrong...
pygos (shoaling fish) = approx. 20 gallons
spilos (shoaling experiment) = plenty of space and cover

Jim

i agree
pygos- are shoaling piranhas but i think its 30 gallons for the first one and 20 gallons per piranha that u put in after
