Around.....
So i was thinking just put my sponge filter back in my 70 gallon and was thinking about putting it onto my Xp3. It will fit but would it work better? clearly the flow rate would go down a bit but the Xp3 wont get clogged and the sponge can add quite a bit of bio filtration.

bump!

havent tried it yet....about to set it up real soon

set it all up seems to be doing fine, however the suction towards the top of the sponge is stronger that through out. but it works!

It seems to be doing a good job filtering..a lot of the suction is pulling right near the top so its not very spread out. But the flow rate seems to be barely effected. I would recommend everyone to try this!! if they have the means lying around lol

Been using foam on all my intakes...
it only makes good sense to keep it out of the "harder to clean" canister, and it gives the fry (if you have any) a great place to feed...;)

as a side note: when it is time to clean,
if you have a tupperware container that the foam will fit into,
lower it into the tank,
put the foam in it, snap on the lid,
and remove...this keeps the crud from spreading all over the tank...

remember to squeeze the foam out in a bucket of Water/Change water to preserve the BB...;):D

Genius. I will definitely remember that when it is time. How often do u recommend cleaning our the sponge filter?

I wait until I see the side start to pull in toward the center. Normally they are straight sided and when they start to restrict flow they will get a slight hourglass shape to them, that's when I do them...;)

oh okay sounds good!
