putting a tank on the floor

I wanted to keep my 55g on the floor for just a couple months until I can get a stand. That wouldn't mess up the tank any, would it? It's carpet by the way.
 
I couldn't imagine any harm coming from it, carpet makes it a little different cause you would want it on an even surface but I figure after all the weight even if its a little uneven it would fix itself. Do you have any tables/countertops you could place it on, just cause it'd look better than the floor
 
It would not be an issue, especially if the floor is level. If your concerned put the tank on a piece of plywood cut to fit just to be safe. A tank of that size you should have no issues with. Most of us have done much worse.
