If I'm understanding the PVC overflow correctly, this shouldn't be too difficult...is it? Basically I would position the overflow near the center of the tank and have about 2 feet of 1/2" vinyl tubing on it. Basically this would create a siphon vac straight to a sump. The hose could be removed or secured along the top of the back wall out of sight when not in use.

Would that work? This is a bit of overlap from another thread I just made, but its a question that the novel of the other thread relies on so I figure it'd be easier to answer in a short & to the point thread.

Thanks.

Been there, tried that.
Two problems.
1. With a straight siphon your tank will continually surge.
2. Pull power and your gonna get your feet wet. Either the sump will overflow or the tank will.
Straight siphon has no means of restarting once lost, so when power is returned your sump will empty into the tank.
There is a reason for the extra chamber on DIY PVC pretzel designs.

^ The PVC overflow would still be constructed the same way.

I would basically just be attaching a flexible hose to the intake instead of having rigid pipe down into the tank.
