I have no water in the tank yet and just want to put my play sand in it without rinsing any of the sand first, then I would fill the tank up with water. Any thoughts or ideas?

Play sand is VERY dusty. I suggest a good rinse first. I had a tank stay cloudy for over a week with the stuff. Might have been the brand, but I strongly suggest rinsing. As for pouring the water... Place a dinner plate (rock, anything flat, large and sinkable) on the sand and pour the water onto it. It will disturb less of the sand.

Ya really clean it like he said i cleaned for over hmm 2hrs? and then i put water in the tank and was cloudy for 10 days. and still the sand wasnt the color i wanted it looked very white dry and then got in and turned to like a weird white color and it looks very bad so clean clean clean! And GL on your tank

silica sand is best, pure white and a lot easier to clean, I got 150lbs for $10 at a store that sells pool supplies

pool filter sand is the best choice by far. and its hell of a lot cheaper. just make sure you rinse it very well and let the sand settle before turning the filters back on.

Unfortunatley I already purchased 4 bags of the play sand for my 125 gallon, so I stuck with that. Not looking foward to rinsing it for hours....thanks for the help everyone
