I'm sorry I haven't been around much lately Life has been crazy lately. In May I got back with my ex that I have dated on and off for 21 years and it has gotten real serious, so serious I'm planning on proposing in 17 hours(probably why I'm not able to sleep). I had moved into a place where the friend who I was sharing a commercial place with for my fish was going to be my landlord. This new place was going to be a place where all my tanks could be at but some remodeling had to be done first. Shortly after moving in I started noticing a different side to my friend where he started to get greedy and within a month of me being there he basically turned into a slum lord. Meanwhile he started to extort me for more money for the commercial building even though I had signed a new lease, I had to pay it because I had no where to move all my tanks. Eventually he lost the building I was living in and all 10 tenants were given 7 days to move even though state law requires a minimum of a 30 day notice. By day 5 he had removed the thermostats from the building to keep the ac from running and this was late august in dallas so it was about 100 degrees. Luckily the internet has instructions on how to bypass a thermostat. Since I moved 3 months ago I have been in a hotel. My fish remained at the commercial building for another month the entire time he was trying to extort more money out of me that I just didn't have and he unplugging lights and heaters. I finally found a place to move my fish and the day I went to the commercial building to get stuff ready to move he demanded my key but I refused while I still had fish there. He then demanded I leave several tanks and fish worth about $1500 which I told him I would just so he wouldn't do something malicious but took them with me anyway. When moving my tanks I consolidated them down to 15 tanks and have since consolidated them even further.

However it has become clear I have to sell all my fish because most of my fish are not beginner fish and the way my tanks are setup they require someone who knows what to look for to maintain them properly. Unfortunately the people who are letting me keep my tanks at their house are beginner fish keepers and don't have the knowledge to know what to look for on all my tanks I feel it is in the best interest of all my fish that I sell them and start rebuilding my collection when I finally find a new place.

I just wanted to let my friends here in the bichir forum know what was going on

The struggle is real. Seem to be responding well to it. Best of luck in all ur endeavors and marriage.

Sorry to hear that you have to sell your fish. You are doing the best for them. The bright side of this is getting married. Maybe we will here from you in the future.:)

You definitely will While I am selling my fish almost all my tanks I am keeping and they are going to my storage unit to be set back up as soon as I find a place. The silver lining is I will be able to get away from canisters and move to sumps because I will finally be able to drill my tanks and replace the sliding lids with heavier lids so my fish won't be able to go for walks as easily like my 26" tire track eel that figured out how to slide open the lid

Sorry to hear about the slumlord ex-friend (I assume). Wish you well on your next endeavours, hope you are able and to find good homes for your fish and possibly get Paid for them. Hope you stay in touch even if your tanks aren’t running.
