pvc cement?

will pvc cement work to bond two sheets of acrylic along a seam that does not need to be water tight... or will it degrade the acrylic?:screwy:

im doing a test run on some scraps that i had in the basement... seem to make a good initial bond and is almost invisible...
 
Are you sure it's acrylic?

Yes it can work, could get ugly tho and wouldn't trust the stress test.

i'm glad i got a responce from the all knowing Dr. Joe :headbang2

yes it is for sure acrylic sheet. im building from scratch... but its going to be an in tank refuge for a 10 gallon salt water tank, it will be for a false wall and the baffles.... and i cant seem to find any weldon around where i live and i dont want to wait to order it online

EDIT: i have anchory tite marine epoxy but it says on the back that is it not for use with polyethylene or polypropylene...
 
A lot of fish stores sell silicone in tubes like caulk you could use.
 
yeah i have the silicone caulk but that isn't a good adhesive on acrylic.... the question remains will pvc cement or that epoxy listed above work for this application?
 
use acrylic cement not pvc cement you can buy it at most hardware stores
 
wow they dont stock weldon around here... only at specialty shops your lucky if they stock it around you... everyone else says the same thing acrylic shops or online... you must just be lucky... what is the name brand around you.. ill see if i can find it here

i dont mean to be rude and i know your trying to help but did you read the thread... i dont want to order it online... and im wondering if i can use the pvc cement i have, not the acrylic cement i would have to order
