Greetings.
I have to finish the setup of my new tank and i have a question. I want to glue a Y fitting for the prefilter/siphon box where there are 2 outputs that become one with the Y fitting. My question is how can i glue them? Is there any special glue which dont harm the chemistry of the water or i can use the glue that we use on the house plumbing? Thank you.

regular pvc glue is fine just make sure you get cleaner and primer especially if it is a pressure fitting. good luck.

Yup. Plain ol PVC glue you can get it at any hardware store. Home Depot is my preferred place.

yep use the regular house plumbing glue if its deemed safe for humans its safe for fish.I usually double the recommended cure time to be safe

It worked on mine:D

Are you taking two drain lines out of your overflow box and making them into one? If so this could be a problem. If this is what your doing I will explain and give some options.

make sure to wash it really good before using it

or try thr screw in type if possible

Yes mate that is what i intent to do, make the two outputs one output. Please explain what could be the problem. The overflow box is one from lifereef.com, the double slim line. Thank you all.

That model I believe has two 1" drain tubes, by glueing them together your essentially making it a single 1" drain. THis will slow down it's abillity to drain water signifigently. THis also may pose a problem with the "U" tube. If it can't move as much water as it is designed too, it may develope little bubbles inside of it and have a cronic problem with loosing it's prime. I am guessing the reason your wanting to change it from 2 to 1 drain is because the wet/dry only has 1 water inlet on it. Just drill a 1 3/4" inch hole in the lid of the wet dry with a hole saw, install a 1" bulk head and run two lines down to it. It's real simple to do and will let your overflow perform the way it was designed to.

That is one thought i had for my problem. And another problem is appearing. If i have the two drains putted together in the sump wont i have problem with the water being flowing through all holes on the drip plate? I dont know if my english made you understand me. Hope you understand. Thank you very much. I understood the explaining you made about the 2 to 1 drains. Thank you. The sump is DIY so i can do whatever i must do.
