Is pvc glue needed or will a tight slip joint be sufficient in a sump pump? I have a section where I gate a Y into my sump to feed it twice, gluing would be messy and punishing if not done quickly and exact. can I go w/o glue if the slip fit is tight?

Thx

Since it is in the sump, and any drips will return back to the sump...I'd go with press fitting them.

When setting up a sytem, I normally glue everything. But when I'm doing sump work on a running system, press fitting is fair game.

I'm with Chompers on gluing everything outside of the sump. I prefer press fitting or camlock fittings inside the sump in order to make it possible to tale things apart for maintenance. If it leaks no harm if it's in the sump but you wouldn't want to have to cut anything apart for maintenance...

If it's on the pressurized side (pump side) I glue it...

If it's on the intake side which is not under pressure, I just press fit...

I agree press fit will work if it is not on a pressurized line, but just keep an eye out for drips.

thanks so much guys, it is working fine currently
