Hello to everyone i have two question for the experts. i am trying to build a pvc overflow for a 90 gal tank. i have 1" pipe and for the pump i am stilled debating on what to buy that going to be my next thread. Back to PVC overflow by reading a couple of posts, and kinda have an idea how to build it. i know there are ton more posts, but would you kindly lead me to those posts that have tons of pics i want to make sure i am doing it right step by step thanks in advance. Second question for the pipe going to the sump i am just curious could i use vacuum hose, or do i have to get the pool hose. If not what kinda or similar kinda hose should i use. Again thanks in advance GOD bless. Happy thanksgiving.

Check out the stickys towards the top of this forum they are very informative. They will take you through the diy overflow process very thoroughly.

I have cichniss thank for taking the time out to answer my question. I was looking for a little more picture making sure i was doing it right.

Pulled direct from the sticky, and will be all you need to create you own.

The splash at the end is your sump.

Yes you need the vent outside the tank.

The lower loops must match as do the uppers. (same height in and outside the tank)

The drain needs to be lower than the inlet.

Vacuum tubing is fine as long as there are no leaks. This HAS to be airtight and glued, an anti siphon valve, like that sold for $.90 at any local chain pet store, in the pipe that runs over the tanks side. This is to prime the system or purge any air that may accumulate.

I use a 900gph pump, but at the moment it is 6' below the ouput, so closer to 600gph, I would use no less than 600GPH of flow to a 90 gallon.

I use 1/4 pvc for my overflow and it keeps up with the pump, but barely.
