hi. i have a 100g glass tank with a 2 inch brace all around. i wanted to build an overflow that would be flushed to the back wall. i was wondering if this modification will help. has anyone done a similar one before? would this design have any problems? and the most important question would it flow? thanks

This would work the same as the regular overflow. You will just have more air to remove in order to get the siphon started. Try it and let us know how it works.

It looks feasible, I'm just wondering why you're want to run it back to the inside rear wall if you're just going to bring it out forward again several inches.

thanks pharaoh. will do.

@ madmaxx
thanks.
the intake of the overflow and the pipe from the first u bend would both be flushed at the back of the tank.
here is a pic when you look at it from the side. the shaded square is the intake behind the pipe from the first u. the red lines are the back wall and tank brace. when you look at the front, you'll just see a regular overflow intake and a u bend. hope it works :)

My only concern is getting it on the actual tank. I drew this up considering 1" PVC and 3/8" glass. its just a quick thing but it gets the point across. Your going to have to make sure you have enough room to get it on the tank. You dont want alot of flex when you put it on or you could break one of your joints.
