Pvc overflow to a siphon

I made a PVC overflow with a drip system but want to convert it to a siphon so I have an easier way to drain it. Can I cut the overflow at the light blue circled in the picture to make it a siphon?

You would just plug the stand pipe.on the back.....you don't have to cut anything.
I'm not entirely clear on what you want to do...

Basically what I want to do is turn turn my PVC overflow into a siphon where when its time to do a water change all i have to do is open 2 ball valves and all the water would drain out.

I believe it would work...just don't nforget the valve when filling back up!!

This is what I would do

Cut your pvc overflow to the length you want to drain your tank so the tube is 1/2-3/4 the depth of the tank. Then all you have to do is remove the overflow tube and switch your ball valve over drain the tank
